Classcraft Volume Meter (The Makus Valley)

First the bad news: Classcraft was discontinued, including their Volume Meter feature. And now the good news: ClassMana has an awesome replacement with Silence Challenge. Try it out or read more below.

The Volume Meter was one of Classcraft's most popular classroom management tools. It was part of their gamified classroom system where students had characters with stats like:

  • Progress Points (XP): Earned through good behavior and academic achievements
  • Health Points (HP): Lost when breaking rules or misbehaving
  • Gold Points (GP): Special currency earned through exemplary actions

The Volume Meter used your laptop's microphone to monitor classroom noise levels. When the volume exceeded set thresholds, it would automatically deduct points from these stats to encourage a quieter learning environment.

Teachers could customize:

  • Different volume thresholds
  • Which stats would be affected (Progress, Health, or Gold)
  • How many points would be lost
  • Optional timer for "quiet time" challenges

ClassMana Silence Challenge

Since Classcraft was discontinued, the Volume Meter is no longer available. But don't worry, because ClassMana has an awesome replacement with Silence Challenge.

Students shouldn't wake the dragon! Keep the noise level down or face the consequences...
