Shared Configuration Between Classes

Teaching the same rewards, warnings, powers and shop items to five classes means setting them up five times โ€” and changing them five times. With shared configuration you set them up once, in one class, and let your other classes use that same list.

Each class still keeps its own students, levels, health, gold and activity history. Only the lists of items are shared.

What Can Be Shared

CategoryWhere you configure it
๐Ÿ‘ RewardsConfig โ†’ Rewards
๐Ÿšซ WarningsConfig โ†’ Warnings
โœจ PowersConfig โ†’ Powers
๐Ÿท๏ธ Shop itemsConfig โ†’ Shop
๐ŸŽฒ Mystery eventsConfig โ†’ Mystery Event

Every category is shared separately. A class can use the rewards of one class, the powers of another, and keep its own shop items.

Teams and students are never shared

Students, teams, co-teachers and class settings such as weekly mana always stay specific to each class.

Mystery events are a special case

Mystery events can also follow your Instant Teacher Tools โ€” the events you configure without a class. New classes start out that way. The other four categories can only follow a real class.

Sharing From the Class Configuration

Open Configure class (โš™๏ธ) and pick one of the panels above. When you have more than one class, a toggle appears at the top of the panel.

Use the same rewards from:Any change you do here also affects: Science 5A
  • Toggle on โ€” pick the class to take the items from. This class then shows and uses that class's list.
  • Toggle off โ€” this class goes back to its own list.

Because turning the toggle on replaces the current list, ClassMana first asks you to confirm and shows which class you are about to follow.

What the Notes Tell You

  • "Any change you do here also affects: โ€ฆ" โ€” you are editing a shared list. Everything you save lands in the other classes as well.
  • "These rewards are used by: โ€ฆ" โ€” other classes follow this class. This is the class that leads the group.

Nothing gets lost when you unlink

Turning the toggle off copies the shared list into this class first. The class keeps exactly the items it was using, and you can edit them freely from then on without touching the other classes.

The Shared Configuration Overview

To see how all your classes are linked in one place, click your avatar in the top right and open Profile โ†’ ๐Ÿ”— Shared Configuration.

The page shows a table with one row per class and one column per category:

What you seeWhat it means
โญ Class nameThe lead class: the class whose items the group uses
ownThe class uses its own items for that category
own ยท 5Same, with the number of items the group uses
โ† Class AThe class follows Class A for that category
Not linkedGroup at the bottom with the classes that share nothing

The line above the table summarises everything, for example "4 classes ยท 1 group ยท 1 using its own configuration".

On a phone or a narrow window the table becomes one card per group, with the same information.

Changing a Link

Click any cell to change it. The dialog lets you:

  • Pick another class to follow
  • Choose Use its own items to unlink the class again

The dialog also warns you when other classes are affected by the change.

Only with two or more classes

With a single class there is nothing to share, so the page explains that sharing becomes available once you create a second class.

Rules to Keep in Mind

  • Only one level of sharing. A class that already follows another class cannot be used as a source itself, so it is not offered in the dropdown.
  • Re-pointing a lead class moves its followers along. If Class B and Class C follow Class A, and you make Class A follow Class D, then Class B and Class C follow Class D too. ClassMana warns you before this happens.
  • Only the class owner can change sharing. Co-teachers see the overview read-only, with the note "Only the class owner can change sharing".
  • Students follow along automatically. When students log in, they see the powers and shop items of the class that is followed, and using or buying them works exactly as it does in that class.
  • Defaults are skipped for shared categories. When you switch on health or gold in a class that follows another class, ClassMana does not add the default warnings or shop items โ€” the shared list is used instead.
  • Your activity history stays readable. Entries keep the item name and the points they were logged with, even after you rename an item, delete it, or switch the class over to another source.

Archiving or Deleting a Source Class

When you archive or permanently delete a class that other classes follow, ClassMana lists those classes and copies the configuration over to them first, so they keep working independently.

See Archiving a Class for the full procedure.
